Colourful portrait photography in Shandon, Cork

Two and a half months ago, I moved to Ireland from the Netherlands. While I’ve always loved the brick architecture back home, it amazed me that some Irish people paint their houses in bright colours. I was thrilled to discover that some houses in Cork are painted in bold, joyful colours. A dream setting for any Cork photographer who loves to work with colour!

Naturally, I planned a photo session in my new neighborhood Shandon, one of the most historic and charming areas in Cork.

Shandon is known for its narrow streets, colourful houses and the iconic church of St. Anne, with its striking red and white bell tower, a true symbol of the city. Last week I rang the bells myself and ever since, I keep noticing a song coming from the tower every ten minutes. Right now, as I write this blog, I can see the tower from my window.

Grace was the model for this photo session and her energy matched the playful summer concept perfectly. Grace’s hair and make-up was beautifully done by Lorraine, professional hair and make-up artist from Limerick. She created a relaxed, joyful vibe that made it easy for Grace to shine in front of the camera.

And to top it all off, the sun decides to join our team! A rare but welcome guest in Ireland.

This was one of those days where everything just came together: colour, light, energy, and a fantastic team. If you're looking for a Cork photographer who loves bringing out personality and vibrance in every shoot, whether you're a model, a creative, or someone simply looking for fun portraits, I’d love to hear from you.

Check out some of my favourite shots from the day below.

Where in Cork should I take pictures next? Let me know!

Let’s work together!
